Hair ‘n Scare ’em!

3 great hair products for men

Finding the best wax formula for your cropped lid isn’t the stuff nightmares are made of. Actually, once you know the ins and outs of what hair groomer is best for you it’s a “boo-tiful” thing!

First, there are basically three types of hair groomers/finishers:

Wax

Great for thick, straight to wavy hair when you want both hold and shine.

Molding Paste

A little lighter than a wax that gives a nice ‘finish’ to hair that’s touchable. This is perfect for wavy to curly hair.

Clay

This formula is a hard hold and usually matte. It gives hair both texture and grip. This is great for short, cropped hair.

So, here are my favorites and recommendations:

Oway Precious Wax

I love this water-free wax and it’s a mainstay in my kit. This is great for curly or wavy hair that has been blow-dried or ironed straight. Like humidity, a little water can bring back the bend or curl in hair. Apply to dry hair in small amounts and build to your desired finish. It’s formulated without parabens and is cruelty-free. Oh, and can be used on hands and lips!  $33.95 available in the US @ Holistic Hair Tribe.

KMS Hair Play Molding Paste

This is a classic fave. I used to use this on my hair -when I had hair! This paste gives great, soft finish with just a touch of shine. It’s perfect for softer hold styles. Since it has water in the formulation it gives hair a touch of softness. With ingredients like Carnauba wax, grapeseed oil and peppermint it doesn’t just look good…it’s good for your ‘do! $20.27 Wow…it’s now available @ Walmart…easy breezy!

American Crew Matte Clay

This one is for the tough at heart…and head! Dry, matte, and a hard hold. If you like your style to have that starched edge this is the one for you! Use this on blow dried hair to shape and mold or apply to drying hair to ‘set’ your shape until dry then finger through to add a touch of body. It’s never greasy and never lets you down! $18.50 available @ American Crew.
