Meet Phat Man Dee, Pittsburgh’s beloved cosmic jazz chanteuse, educator, and unapologetic defender of queer and creative community. In this QBurgh Artist Spotlight, Man Dee shares their journey as a vocalist, songwriter, and mentor whose music and life work center radical inclusion, youth empowerment, and the joyful defiance of queer existence. Raised by drag queens, punk rock circus clowns, and jazz legends, Man Dee embodies a Pittsburgh where music and community activism are inseparable. Nebby Nick visited Mosaic Apartments in Oakland to chat with Jim and Daniel about how this one-of-a-kind space is being built for and with LGBTQ+ elders in mind. From vibrant community rooms on every floor to art installations by local queer artists, and most importantly, how YOU can be part of it Applications are now open!
