Syphilis is on the Rise

Free testing and the cure are available.

Central Outreach Wellness Center wants you to know that syphilis is on the rise in our area since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Allegheny County Health Department reports an increase in syphilis from January through August 2020. There were 199 cases of syphilis reported in Allegheny County which is a 78% increase compared with the 112 cases reported during the same time period last year.

90% of syphilis infections were in men, the majority of whom are men who have sex with men. Untreated syphilis can kill you but is curable!

Free testing and the cure is available at Central Outreach Wellness Center. Remember, practice safe sex and get tested!
