Pittsburgh in 2010 looked very different from what it does today and had very few trans- and non-binary-centered events or groups. In late fall 2010, a grassroots queer collective of trans and non-binary folks decided they wanted to create more for our community. We started with a picnic, which led us to create the TransPride Pgh Showcase, focusing on local trans and enby talent. As we planned the first TransPride Pgh Talent Showcase, we asked around, talked with our artists and performers, and put it together. From there, it grew from a few community-centered workshops to a full day of community-centered workshops, and now we can offer over 60 workshops for community members and professionals alike, supporting the education and affirmation of the Trans/GNC community through a three-day, fully virtual conference.
In 2026, despite everyone’s collective effort and work, we stand to lose so much that our entire community has built. Let’s not mince words: the Trans Community is being actively targeted with ever-increasing laws around gender, resource access, and support.
Still we stand. We are STILL HERE.
Its events and educational sessions like the TransPride YOUniting Health and Wellness Conference that help keep the fire stoked. It’s the activists, organizers, organizations, individuals continuing to do the work, its professionals acknowledging that they need to know more to do better for our community that keep us here.
This year’s TransPride YOUniting Health & Wellness Conference brings speakers from across the country and beyond, along with some of the most powerful voices in trans health, visibility, and community care. Our keynote speakers will lead evidence‑based conversations on gender‑affirming care, the ethics of trans representation in medical data systems, and the vital role of advance directives in protecting identity and autonomy for our gloriously aging trans community members. In addition, there will be a call to community Care, connection, and belonging, along with an inside look at paramedical and cosmetic tattooing as a creative pathway to support trans wellbeing.
These keynotes set the tone for a conference session rooted in knowledge, collaboration, connection, and celebration—and they’re just the beginning. With 60+ workshops, community‑centered sessions, and skill‑building opportunities over the three-day online conference, the TransPride YOUniting Health & Wellness Conference kicks off this Thursday, Oct 15, 2026, on Whova. You can still sign up to join the 2026 TransPride Health & Wellness Conference at TRANSPRIDE PGH.
Join us to learn, connect, and help build a future where trans and gender‑diverse people are uplifted, affirmed, and celebrated.
