The QMNTY Center is leveling up. On Monday, August 11, 2025, the hub for queer connection and care on the Northside will cut the ribbon on QMNTY Fitness, a brand-new space designed to keep Pittsburgh’s LGBTQIA+ community moving, strong, and supported. Located at the QMNTY Center at 525 E. Ohio Street, the gym is a statement that our bodies, in all their shapes, sizes, and genders, deserve places where they are celebrated, not scrutinized.
QMNTY Fitness invites folks of all fitness levels, from barbell veterans to “I guess I’ll try yoga once,” to find joy in movement in a safe, affirming space. Whether you’re lifting, stretching, or just working up the courage to try your first squat, this is about empowerment, not perfection. As the QMNTY Center puts it, “staying active is part of staying empowered.”
And empowerment is something the QMNTY Center knows well. A collaborative effort between TransYOUniting and Proud Haven, the center has been steadily growing into a one-stop resource for queer and trans Pittsburghers. It offers everything from community programming to mutual aid, and, since last year, the QMNTY Closet, a free thrift store and resource hub just a few doors down. The Closet provides clothing, gender-affirming apparel, and other essentials, ensuring folks have access to what they need without financial barriers.
With QMNTY Fitness, the center’s mission to meet the community’s needs, both inside and out, is expanding in bold new directions. The addition creates a dedicated environment for queer folks to explore wellness without the pressures and microaggressions often found in mainstream gyms.
All participants will be asked to sign a standard workout waiver and agree to gym guidelines, ensuring the space stays safe and accessible for everyone.
