Pittsburgh’s LGBTQ+ community has a vital new resource with the opening of the QMNTY Closet yesterday. The QMNTY Closet is a free thrift store dedicated to providing gender-affirming clothing, hygiene products, work attire, food, and other essentials operated by Trans Youniting and Proud Haven

The opening of the QMNTY Closet is an expansion of the QMNTY Center’s services to ensure trans, nonbinary, and gender-expansive individuals have access to necessities that affirm their identities and dignity.

At its core, QMNTY Closet is not just about clothing; it’s about access, affirmation, and survival. “This expansion is a major step forward in making essential resources accessible to our community,” said Dena Stanley, Executive Director of Trans YOUniting. “QMNTY Closet is about more than clothing—it’s about dignity, affirmation, and ensuring that everyone has what they need to thrive.”

For trans and nonbinary folks, finding gender-affirming clothing can be a costly and often uncomfortable experience. QMNTY Closet aims to eliminate these barriers, making it easier for individuals to express themselves authentically while accessing other critical resources such as hygiene products and food assistance.

The expansion of QMNTY Closet was made possible in part by a grant from YWCA Greater Pittsburgh, reflecting a growing commitment to uplifting marginalized communities in the city.

The QMNTY Closet is a separate and accessible space a few doors down from the QMNTY Center on E Ohio Street on Pittsburgh’s North Side. For more information on the QMNTY Center and Closet, visit QMNTYCenter.org.
