Will Pride ’09 top ’08?

Last year’s Pride 2008 promoters, the Delta Foundation, promised “the biggest slate of pride events ever seen here.”

That boast was justified by the considerable amount of pre-Pride activities, Pride week events and partner activities that lasted through June.

This year Pride 2009 builds on last year’s successful celebration.

Called “Your Rights. Our Rights. Human Rights,” Pride Week 2009 runs June 8-14 and includes:

Splash!, the annual Mount Washington pool party and barbecue on June 11;

A pub crawl June 12;

On June 13, guests Jennifer Holliday (of the original Dreamgirls) and God des and She will perform, as DJ Phil B spins the dance tunes, at Pride in the Street, Liberty and 10th Street, which will once again be closed to traffic and the nonpaying public; and

The Pride Awareness March, June 14, beginning at noon and followed by Pridefest, 1-6pm, on Liberty Ave.
