True T PGH Announces Move to a New, Larger Location in Pittsburgh’s Uptown

True T PGH, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering LGBTQIA+ people of color through creative arts, social activism, and community health, announced its move to a new, larger location in the heart of Pittsburgh’s Uptown neighborhood. The move marks a milestone in the organization’s mission to enhance its services and reach within the community.

The new facility, located at 1632 Forbes Ave, will provide expanded space for True T PGH’s programs and activities, including art and movement workshops, social justice initiatives, and an all-new community resource center offering free and confidential HIV/STI testing onsite. The move allows True T PGH to offer more comprehensive support and a welcoming environment for LGBTQIA+ people of color.

“Our move to this new building is a testament to the growth and resilience of our community,” said Duane Binion, Co-Executive Director of True T PGH. “This new space will enable us to expand our services, host larger events, and create a more vibrant hub for creativity and activism. We are excited about the opportunities this new location brings and look forward to continuing our mission with even greater impact.”

The move to Uptown (or The Bluff) is not just a change of address but a unique opportunity to immerse the organization in the eco-innovation vision of the neighborhood.

“We are excited to be part of a neighborhood with such rich cultural and historical significance and lots of construction and creativity pouring in,” added John Easter III; Co-Executive Director. “Our new location allows us to deepen our connection to the black and lgbtq communities and honor the legacy of those who have paved the way for social justice and equality.”

True T PGH will host a series of open house events in September to celebrate and showcase the new space. They will feature building tours, art displays, live performances, a free community cookout, and opportunities for community members to meet the staff and learn more about the organization’s programs. More details to come.
