Political Ad Blasts Candidate Rob Mercuri for Anti-Gay Stance

It comes as no surprise to members of the LGBTQ Community of Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania that our region and state aren’t always the most inclusive to our rainbow families. In fact, while we have sexual orientation and gender identity and expression protections here in Allegheny County, in most of the surrounding counties and municipalities it is perfectly legal to discriminate against someone for their sexuality or gender identity.

What might be surprising is that a candidate for the State House of Representatives right here in Allegheny County doesn’t support the laws that protect our community here.

On Wednesday, a political ad began running that points out the Republican candidate for District 28, Rob Mercuri in fact supports government NOT intervening thus allowing businesses, organizations, and individuals to discriminate against the LGBTQ Community. House District 28 is completely within Allegheny County meaning Mercuri doesn’t support the laws that govern the district he hopes to represent.

Mercuri has also been endorsed by an anti-gay group that applauds Rob for his discriminatory positions.
