Persad Center sponsors C-R group for gay men

Persad Center is sponsoring a Consciousness Raising Group for gay men each Monday evening at 9:30. The group meets at Persad and is open to all interested gay men.

At the first meeting, the members of the C-R group established some basic guidelines for the group:

1) This C-R group is not a therapy group. Although members of the group might relate personal experiences or personal problems, it is not the responsibility of the group to provide therapy—at least not in the traditional sense. The group is primarily a rap group.

2) In order for people to feel more comfortable talking about themselves and how they view various issues, the members of the C-R group have agreed that personal matters which are discussed within the C-R group should not be discussed outside of the group.

3) The C-R group will choose a topic for discussion each week. The following have been chosen by the group as topics for C-R group discussion: Pornography, S&M, Penis Size, Male/Female Role Playing, Varieties of Gay Sex, Heterosexuality & Bisexuality, Gay Women, Lovers, Infidelity?, Transexualism, Cross-Dressing, Agism, Parents & Family, In-Laws, Male Chauvenism & Masculine Mystique, Gay Alternatives Pittsburgh, Fetishism, Black Gays, Coming Out All The Way, Gays In Heterosexual Marriage, What Should Gays Condemn‘d Social Outlets For Gays, and Sandy Baron’s “God Save The Queens”.

Any gay man who wishes can attend the C-R group. If you would like more information, please call Jim Huggins at Persad (681-5330).
