A look back on Pride Month 2022

As Pride Month comes to a close let’s take a look back on some of the events that took place celebrating the LGBTQ+ Community of Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania.

Billy Porter jumped on stage at Pride on the Shore, June 3, to join Jessie J in singing “I want Love.” Jessie J’s concert kicked off Pittsburgh Pride month with a bang and Billy Porter’s appearances across the City during Pride signaled a rebirth and renewal for a new version and vision of what Pittsburgh Pride can be with an emphasis on greater inclusion and diversity that had been more than lacking during its previous iteration.

The annual Pride Nights at PNC Park with the Pittsburgh Pirates and at Highmark Stadium with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds were beautiful nights to celebrate the diversity of our community.

Pride celebrations continued to spread far and wide this year with Millvale’s second annual event and Mt. Lebanon, Dormont, and Washington County celebrating their FIRST Prides!

There were so many events to choose from this month with over 50 events nearly every day of June!

The Renaissance City Choir returned for their first in-person performances since 2019 and it was music to our ears!

Today feels heavy. The road ahead feels daunting. But if history has taught us anything, it’s that our power is immeasurable when we stand together.

We have faced hatred, violence, and erasure before. Each time, we’ve risen—stronger, louder, and more unapologetically ourselves. A Trump presidency may bring new challenges, but it’s no match for the strength of a united, intersectional, and relentless queer movement. More link in bio.

Blending the best of stand-up and original comedic songs to showcase pop culture’s most beloved sorceresses, “Tim Murray is Witches” hits the Greer Cabaret Theater on Friday, January 24th! Think of it like Bo Burnham, but painted green, gay, and doing drag. 💅🧹

From Shiz University to the Sanderson Sisters, Tim parallels their stories of being ostracized to his own witch hunt growing up in the midwest and as a queer teacher today. Tickets are hot and they’re selling out fast, visit TrustArts.org/Cabaret or link in bio to snag yours before they’re gone! 💚✨
