A proposed new podcast hopes to shed new light or possibly solve the over 20-year mystery of the unsolved murder of Jamie Stickle.
33-year-old Jamie Stickle was a connected, active, and respected figure in the LGBTQ Community of Pittsburgh. She tended bar at Sidekicks, a former gay bar in Downtown, Pittsburgh and after her shifts she would mesh into the queer nightlife, loving her city and her community. She used her position and connections with her community to fundraise for breast cancer, multiple sclerosis, and HIV/AIDS research.
In the early morning hours of February 8, 2002, Pittsburgh firefighters responded to a burning Jeep parked in a lot near the George Warhola Scrap Yard on the North Side of the 16th Street Bridge. Once they quenched the blaze, they found Jamie Stickle’s body inside. Blood and her belongings were strewn around her car and up to her apartment, evidence of a struggle. The coroner could only officially rule her death as “undetermined.”
Jamie’s murder remains unsolved over 20 years later.
Jaime Stickle is a writer, producer, and podcast host in Los Angeles. She shares a strikingly similar name with Jamie Stickle and Jamie’s story and the lack of answers have been on her radar for some time. Now Jaime and co-host Jason Beeber hope to launch a new podcast, “The Girl with the Same Name”, to help bring answers that have long eluded both police and the LGBTQ Community of Pittsburgh.
“I am not a detective, nor a seasoned investigator. My background lies in a different realm entirely. I am an actor, a writer, and an observer of the human condition. But when I stumbled upon this case, something ignited within me—a deep, inexplicable connection that demanded my attention,” Jaime says in the Kickstarter description.
The Kickstarter campaign for “The Girl with the Same Name” podcast was launched on June, 30 2023 with a goal of $10,000. As of publication, the campaign has raised $4,250. An update posted on July 13 indicates that Stickle and Beeber have been in touch with Jamie’s family and friends and have their support in looking into Jamie’s case.
