On Mt. Royal Boulevard in front of Shaler Area Middle School, Black Lives Matter protesters were greeted with shouts of “Kill Transgenders” by the pro-police group “Back the Blue” on Saturday, July 25.
The Black Lives Matter protest was organized by Shaler Area Anti-Racist Advocates. A group of mostly young people. It was scheduled to take place Saturday July, 25 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM on the lawn in front of Shaler Area Middle School. The group however was met by counter protesters called “Back the Blue”, a pro-police and vehemently racist, homophobic, transphobic and misogynistic alt-right group largely born out of Facebook pages and groups.
Video of the pro-police protesters captured a “gentleman” shouting “Kill Transgenders, Kill Transgenders” and “You’re a f****t” repeatedly into a megaphone.
Update: Shaler area residents have identified the man as Don Cox of Etna.
