Governor-Elect Shapiro Names First Out Member of Cabinet

Governor-Elect Shapiro announced the appointment of the first out member of his cabinet Monday with the designation of Neil Weaver to serve as Secretary of Administration.

Neil Weaver, who currently serves as Acting Secretary at the Department of Community and Economic Development, said “I am humbled by the opportunity to serve the Governor-Elect and the people of Pennsylvania as Secretary of Administration.” Weaver’s appointment does not require state Senate approval.

Weaver previously served as executive deputy secretary of the Department of Community and Economic Development, the Department of Environmental Protect communications director, and in the governor’s Office of Performance through Excellence.

Weaver also currently serves on Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education’s governing board and as a trustee for PennWest University.

Governor-Elect Shaprio will be sworn in as Governor on Tuesday, January 17, 2023.
