Community Briefs: Events Come Roaring Back!

As March 2022 rolls on, we often hear the phrase “in like a lion, out like a lamb”.  And as we approach the endemic phase of COVID-19, the LGBTQ social calendar in Pittsburgh is truly ramping up more for a big roar than anything else.


Steel Carabiner – St. Patty’s Day at Blue Moon

Held every Thursday of the month, Steel Carabiner hosts the wonderful Pittsburgh Lez/Dyke community for an appreciation party.  The St. Patty’s Day Party will be hosted by DYTayWaits (playing the hottest music), Venus Doom and Viva Valezz, the founder of the FIERCE! Queer Performing Arts Festival.

Free pool, along with a galore of specialty drinks, all guests must show proof of ID and Vaccination status.  And remember – No racist! No TERFs! No SWERFs!

Brewers Hotel and Bar- Green Party Open Stage

Head to Brewers on Thursday, March 17th for their Green Party Open Stage for St. Patty’s Day.  The winner of the open stage will win a $100 Grand Prize, along with patrons receiving drink specials.

Hosted by Agnes Senga and Lola Rose.

The Doll House: Drag Extravaganza

On Friday, March 18th, The Mostbeaufullest will be hosting “The Doll House: Drag Extravaganza” at Spirit in Lawrenceville.  The event will be host to an all-black trans cast, starring Remy Black, Kaleigha Diamond, Masika Mizrahi (aka Victoria L. Van-Cartier) and Jette Black.

The event will be held from 9pm-2am, with tickets being $15 at the door.

Blue Moon’s Back to the 90s

On Saturday, March 19th, 2022 at 11pm Blue Moon Bar in Lawrenceville will be hosting Ms Blue Moon 2022 Phoenix Fatale’s Birthday Bash, Back to the 90s.

The event will be starting at 11pm.

Jellyfish at PTown

Pittsburgh’s favorite underground dance sensation, Jellyfish, is back this month on Friday, March 18th at P TOWN.  Residents Ricky Moslen and Stephanie Tsong will be hosting the event, with a collaboration with Haute to Death, based out of Detroit, Michigan.

Tickets are available now, with limited availability at the door on the day of the event.

Brewers Bar – Tea Deance 4.0

Head to Brewers Bar on Sunday, March 20th for the Tea Dance 4.0, hosted by Pittsburgh’s First Lady of Drag, Kierra Darshell, along with Jezebel D’Opulence and Dan Bear.

There will be no cover for this event.

Pitt Pride Week 2022, Mar. 20th – 27th

The University of Pittsburgh’s Rainbow Alliance is hosting their annual Pride Week 2022, from Sunday, March 20th through Sunday, March 27th, 2022.

The organization has the following events scheduled throughout the week:

Friday, March 25th – Indya Moore at David L. Lawrence Convention Center

2022 Renaissance City Choir Cabaret presents “I Feel Pretty”, Saturday March 19th, 2022 – Sun, March 27th, 2022

Renaissance City Choir’s 2022 Cabaret will honor the late, great Stephen Sondheim.  The event will be held in person only on Saturday, March 19th at the East Liberty Presbyterian Church (ELPC), as well as being held live again on Sunday, March 20th, in addition to being on Zoom.

The performance will take place in the Social Hall of the Church.  All attendees are expected to wear masks, as well as show proof of vaccination status.

A transplant from NYC, Aaron always had a passion for helping and supporting the community in any way that he can.  Aaron hopes to bring to Central Outreach a sense of fun and laughter, but also compassion and empathy for all that are in need.
