New Orleans bounce legend and queer cultural icon Big Freedia will perform at the Pittsburgh Pride Festival on Sunday, June 7, at 4 p.m. on the Pennsylvania: Great American Getaway Main Stage at Allegheny Commons Park West.
Known worldwide as the “Queen of Bounce,” Big Freedia has spent more than two decades bringing the high-energy New Orleans sound to audiences across the globe while helping transform bounce music from a regional phenomenon into an international cultural force.
Her influence can be heard throughout contemporary pop music, with collaborations and samples appearing in tracks by artists including Beyoncé, Drake, Lizzo, and Kesha. Beyond music, Freedia has become one of the most visible Black queer performers in the United States, using her platform to celebrate authenticity, self-expression, and community.
The addition of Big Freedia strengthens an already anticipated Pittsburgh Pride lineup and brings one of LGBTQ+ culture’s most dynamic live performers to the state’s largest Pride celebration. Her shows are renowned for their infectious energy, audience participation, and unmistakable New Orleans spirit.
For many LGBTQ+ people, particularly Black queer and trans communities, Big Freedia represents both artistic innovation and cultural resilience. Her career has challenged industry norms while creating space for queer visibility within genres that have not always embraced LGBTQ+ artists.
Pittsburgh Pride attendees can expect a performance filled with bounce classics, crowd-favorite hits, and the kind of joyful celebration that has made Big Freedia a festival favorite nationwide.
Presented by Lady O. Productions and RR Elite, Big Freedia takes the Pennsylvania: Great American Getaway Main Stage on Sunday, June 7, at 4 p.m. in Allegheny Commons Park West.
