Good morning, Pittsburgh.
Spring is flirting, but they’re not committing. Spring is here… but like… are they though?
One day it’s 65 and sunny and you’re outside like “this is my personality now,” and the next day it’s 42 with wind and you’re digging your winter coat out of the emotional grave you just buried it in.
And honestly? Same.
We’re in that weird in-between moment. Making plans but canceling them. Going outside but bringing a jacket “just in case.” Feeling like a new person but also needing a nap immediately
The city is waking up, though. You can feel it. People are outside longer. Patios are being tested. Someone, somewhere, is absolutely wearing shorts too early and refusing to back down.
There’s a little chaos in the air. A little hope. A little “what if I just… reinvented myself this week?”
This is your reminder that you can reinvent yourself. You can be inconsistent, figuring it out, trying again, soft-launching a new version of yourself. Spring isn’t fully committed yet.
But you? You’re showing up anyway. And that counts.
Let’s slay the week.
SLAY OF THE WEEK: Kaydence McQueen

This week’s Slay of the Week goes to Kaydence McQueen, a trans woman, drag performer, and now the powerhouse host of Monday Night Fever at P Town.
From styling in New York’s fashion world to building her drag career in Pittsburgh, Kaydence has carved out a space that’s equal parts performance, community, and pure queer joy.
As the first trans woman to host the long-running Monday show, she’s not just taking the stage; she’s reshaping it. Creating a space where new performers, seasoned queens, and curious first-timers all feel welcome.
Because for Kaydence, drag isn’t just about the spotlight. It’s about visibility, community, and making sure everyone feels like they belong.

Reader Joy Submission: Kris Felt the Love in Pittsburgh
This week’s reader joy comes from Kris, who took a spontaneous four-day trip to Pittsburgh with their 18-year-old son.
And the verdict? Kris shared: “As a dyke I felt incredibly welcome.”
From exploring the city to soaking in the vibes, the trip delivered exactly what queer travel should: connection, comfort, and community.
And the highlight? Meeting Pittsburgh icon Randy Gilson of the perfect photoshoot location Ranyland — a moment that truly sealed the experience.
Sometimes joy looks like big milestones. Sometimes it’s as simple (and powerful) as feeling like you belong in a place.
We’re so glad you felt the love, Kris.

Did something gay and glorious happen this week?
✨ You wore your first binder out in public
✨ You finally asked them out (and they said yes)
✨ You slayed at karaoke
✨ You felt cute at Giant Eagle
✨ You just felt seen
We wanna hear it! Send us your queer joy, big or small, and we might feature it in next week’s issue. Because your joy? That’s newsworthy too.

QUEER JOY IN THE WORLD: A Queer Spring Awakening

A bold, all-queer production of Spring Awakening bloomed in Pittsburgh’s Allentown this past weekend, and it did more than put on a show.
Created entirely by LGBTQ+ artists on and off stage, this reimagining centered queer voices, challenged control, and created an affirming space where performers could finally show up as their full selves.
For many involved, it was a return to theater, this time without the limitations, typecasting, or silence they’ve experienced before.
And clearly, the community was ready for it. Tickets sold out almost instantly.
Because sometimes queer joy looks like a packed house. And sometimes it looks like rewriting the story entirely.

Community Call: Who Gets Their Flowers?

Pittsburgh Pride is asking a very important question: Who in our community deserves their flowers right now?
Nominations are officially open for the 2026 Pittsburgh Pride Parade Grand Marshal, an honor that celebrates someone who has made a real impact in the region’s LGBTQ+ community.
This isn’t about fame. It’s about the people who show up. The ones building community, creating space, organizing, caring, and doing the work, often without recognition.
The selected Grand Marshal will lead this year’s Pride parade across the Roberto Clemente Bridge and into the Pride festival, symbolically carrying our community forward.
So think about it. Who’s been showing up for you? Who’s been showing up for all of us?

Alright babes… be honest. You wore a light jacket this week and immediately got humbled, didn’t you?
Spring said, “come outside,” and then hit you with wind like a personal attack. And yet… you went back out anyway. Because something is shifting.
The city feels different. You feel different. Even if it’s subtle. Even if it’s messy.
This week we’ve got drag on a Monday (as we should), trans joy front and center for Trans Day of Visibility (as we should), community nominations for folks who deserve their flowers, and a reminder that queer art is still pushing boundaries and filling rooms.
In other words: We are very much alive right now.
So as you move through this week, layer your outfits and your expectations. Say yes to something spontaneous. Show up for your people. Show up for yourself.
And if the weather changes three times in one day? Just pivot. That’s growth.
Spring might be inconsistent… but your joy doesn’t have to be.
Stay hydrated. Stay soft. Stay a little chaotic. And keep becoming whoever you’re becoming.
Talk soon.
