The New Castle Prism Initiative will celebrate its first anniversary with a community block party and vendor fair on Sunday, July 19, bringing together local vendors, food, entertainment, and fundraising to support the organization’s year-round work serving LGBTQ+ people in Lawrence County.

The New Castle Prism Initiative One-Year Anniversary Block Party and Vendor Fair runs from noon to 5 p.m. at the organization’s center at Third Independent Presbyterian Church, 1315 E. Washington St., in New Castle.

The celebration serves three purposes: marking the organization’s first year, strengthening community connections, and raising funds to sustain its ongoing operations and future programming.

While many LGBTQ+ organizations see increased visibility during Pride Month, the New Castle Prism Initiative provides support year-round. The center is open Tuesday through Friday from noon to 5 p.m., offering resources including food, clothing, and gender-affirming care. It also hosts regular community programming such as movie nights, support groups, and drag shows, creating space for LGBTQ+ people to build community and mutual aid networks.

The July 19 event will feature community vendors, food trucks, crafts, games, educational programming, music, and flash tattoos. Visitors will also be able to tour the center and learn more about its services.

Parking, including accessible spaces, will be available in the center’s East Washington Street lot. The Adams Street lot will be closed to vehicles during the event.

Community members with questions or those interested in becoming a vendor can email ncprism123@gmail.com for more information.
