Pittsburgh, It’s Time to Vote for Our Rights, Our Futures, and Our Lives

Today, we stand on the edge of what might be the most crucial election of our lifetime. It’s no exaggeration: this vote matters more than ever before. We know what’s at stake.

For years, we’ve witnessed the aggressive targeting of our trans siblings, the erosion of protections we fought so hard to secure, and an unending stream of laws aimed at policing our identities. Former President Trump openly demonizes the trans community, using political clout to erase us from public policy, health care, and education. From barring trans people from the military to narrowing protections in health care, his policies have impacted countless lives in ways many cannot fully understand until they experience it.

We can’t go back. We won’t go back.

Kamala Harris: A Fierce Advocate for LGBTQ+ Rights and More

We have a fighter on our side. Kamala Harris has already shown she’s committed to advancing LGBTQ+ rights, marriage equality, and reproductive justice. She’s made it clear: our rights aren’t up for debate or compromise. Her presence in the White House will signal hope for a future where our identities are celebrated, protected, and enshrined in law.

Harris has long been an advocate for marriage equality, trans rights, and broader civil rights. As President, she’s poised to help enact policies that protect our community, rather than erase us. Whether it’s pushing for the Equality Act to become law or standing against the state-level attacks on reproductive freedom, Harris is here for the people—all people, including LGBTQ+ folks.

Why This Election is About Us All

The stakes aren’t just abstract political buzzwords—they’re personal. This election is about the right to be ourselves without fear, the right to love who we love, and the right to access health care and protection without discrimination. It’s about ensuring that queer youth in Pittsburgh grow up in a world where they can thrive, not just survive. It’s about protecting our friends, family, partners, and chosen families from the nightmare of rights being systematically stripped away.

When we cast our votes today, we’re voting for more than just political candidates. We’re voting for the soul of this nation, the promise of our future, and the lives of everyone in our LGBTQ+ community. We’re voting to preserve the progress we’ve made, and to keep moving forward toward true equality.

Pittsburgh, Let’s Show Up for Each Other

Pittsburgh’s queer community is known for resilience, for grit, and for coming together when it matters most. Today, we need that energy. We need every single LGBTQ+ voter, every ally, every person who believes in equality and justice to show up and show out. Whether you’re hitting the polls this morning, during your lunch break, or right before they close, your vote has power.

Every ballot counts. Every voice matters. Today, let’s make it clear that Pittsburgh’s LGBTQ+ community won’t sit silently by. We’re here, we’re strong, and we’re voting for the future we all deserve.
