True T PGH Reports Break-In at Uptown Space, Remains Open

Items including microphones, pantry supplies, and security equipment were stolen as Zone 2 Police investigate the incident.

Community anchor True T PGH is continuing operations this week following a burglary discovered early Sunday morning at their Uptown location.

According to a statement released by the organization, staff learned between 7:00 and 8:00 AM that an unknown individual had entered the space through a back door without permission. The organization reported the individual returned through a new entry point the following night and was spotted in the area again. Police are actively searching for the suspect.

Several essential items were taken, including two wireless microphones, a portable speaker, food and dry pantry supplies, security cameras, and personal belongings from a staff workspace.

Despite the disruption, True T emphasized their commitment to staying open and serving the community.

“We’re still here, still working, and still committed to serving our community,” the organization shared in a public statement.

Founded to empower LGBTQIA+ people of color, True T PGH blends creative arts, social activism, and community health into a holistic model of care. In August 2024, the organization expanded its reach by moving into the larger space at 1632 Forbes Avenue in Uptown, creating room for art and movement workshops, social justice programming, and a community resource center offering free, confidential HIV/STI testing. The Uptown location marked a major step forward in deepening their impact, establishing a vibrant, affirming hub designed by and for the communities it serves.

The incident is currently under investigation by Zone 2 Police. Prior to the removal of security equipment, the individual was captured on video. Community members with any relevant information are encouraged to contact True T PGH directly.
