Transphobic Township Commissioner Resigns

Scott Township Commissioner Paul Abel, who made headlines last week for calling Pennsylvania Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine a “guy dressed like a woman”, has resigned according to a Facebook post by the Scott Township Board of Commissioners.

In his letter of resignation, Abel characterized his transphobic comment as a “sarcastic” quip at the end of a long meeting. Abel indicated that he was only resigning, not because he was sorry for the offensive comment toward Dr. Levine and the Trans community, but because he and his family had been the target of “anger and harassment”.

One wonders if former Commissioner Abel feels the same sympathy for Dr. Levine or the trans community.
