The Draft Is Over… Now What?
Well. We survived. The NFL Draft came. It saw. It absolutely took over Downtown and the North Shore.
Downtown was packed. The traffic was… not that bad actually. The crowds? Endless. The vibes? Mixed, depending on who you asked.
Some of you leaned all the way in. Some of you made one appearance and said “that’s enough.” Some of you fully disappeared and are only now re-emerging like nothing happened.
And honestly? Respect to all approaches.
But now it’s Monday. The stages are coming down. The crowds are leaving. The city is… exhaling.
So the real question is: Where the gays at now? Back on the patios? Reclaiming our bars? Making actual plans again that don’t involve navigating 300,000 straight men in jerseys?
Because here’s the thing. That chaos was temporary. The community isn’t.
We’re still here. Still making the plans. Still building the spaces. Still finding each other.
So wherever you ended up this weekend (in it, around it, or far away from it), welcome back. Let’s get back to our regularly scheduled programming.
SLAY OF THE WEEK: Barons of Steel Show Up

This week’s Slay of the Week goes to the Barons of Steel and Pittsburgh Leather Pride for turning community into action.
Through an online charity auction, they raised over $1,400 for Proud Haven, supporting LGBTQ+ youth experiencing homelessness right here in Pittsburgh.
What people don’t always see is that the leather and kink community isn’t just about expression. It’s about showing up, organizing, and taking care of each other when it matters most.
Real money. Real impact. Real community care. And that? That’s a slay.
SHARE YOUR JOY
Did something gay and glorious happen this week?
✨ You wore your first binder out in public
✨ You finally asked them out (and they said yes)
✨ You slayed at karaoke
✨ You felt cute at Giant Eagle
✨ You just felt seen
We wanna hear it! Send us your queer joy, big or small, and we might feature it in next week’s issue. Because your joy? That’s newsworthy too.

QUEER JOY IN THE WORLD: The Cattybaret Feels Like Home

Not all queer joy happens at midnight. Sometimes it’s a Sunday evening, a $5 cover, and a room full of people who feel like family.
At the Cattybaret at Blue Moon, hosts Catty Wampus and Brayden Butter are building something special with a monthly drag, burlesque, and cabaret show that’s as much about connection as it is performance.
It’s early. It’s welcoming. It’s intentional. A space where you can bring your mom to her first drag show. Where strangers become friends. Where queer nightlife opens up to people who might not otherwise get to experience it.
Because queer joy is about finding your people and making space for more of them.
Queer Recommendation: Stay in the Know (Without the Overwhelm)
Trying to keep up with everything happening in Pittsburgh’s queer community? Same.
That’s why you should be watching Michelangelo’s BI weekly queer news updates on QBurgh’s social channels.
They’re quick, calm, and actually digestible; breaking down a few of the biggest stories, from mutual aid and community wins to the political stuff we need to be paying attention to.
No doomscroll spiral. No info overload. Just “What did I miss?”, “Okay, I’m caught up.”, “Back to my life.”
It’s giving informed and emotionally regulated.

Alright. The Draft is over.
The crowds have cleared. The traffic… never got that bad. The city is slowly returning to something recognizable. And now? We get it back.
Our spots. Our routines. Our ability to walk into a bar without navigating a sea of jerseys… at least non-Pittsburgh jerseys.
And honestly… it’s kind of nice. Because while all that chaos was happening, something else stayed steady.
Us. The community. The spaces we build. The ways we show up for each other, whether it’s raising money, creating art, hosting a Sunday night show, or just making room at the table.
And that doesn’t disappear when the spotlight leaves town.
So this week, as things settle, go back to your places. Check in with your people. Try something new or return to something that feels like home. No big event required. Just being here is enough. That’s the real reset.
The city did the most. Now we get to do us.
Talk soon.
