Newsletter presents annual awards

The Link hosted the Gay Life Newsletter’s 2009 Readers’ Choice Awards April 4. The fifth annual event attracted a crowd of more than 85 and helped to raise $300 to benefit Shepherd Wellness Community.

Jezebel D’Opulence, Miss Diana Ross and Stephen served as emcees for the evening.

Winners were as follows:

Stripper of the Year, Diesel; News Staff Member, Keith; News Columnist, Stephen; Entertainer, Miss Diana Ross; Mr. Gaylife, Jon Zimmers; Ms. Gaylife, Anita Long; Mr. Gaylife (Drag King), Blu; Miss Gaylife (Drag Queen), Jezebel D’Opulence. Male Couple, Chad and Chip; Female Couple, Shannon and Missy; Miss Gaylife Congeniality, Christian Diane; Mr. Gaylife Congeniality, Mikee Stylz; and Mr. Gaylife Hunk, Stephen.

The Mama Bagel Memorial Award went to past President of Shepherd Wellness Terry Stefl. CJ Marion and Kimberly Rech won the Stacey Walker Memorial Award. Show Director of the Year was awarded to Jezebel D’Opulence. Jogn DeBartola was named Humanitarian of the Year. Chosen as GLBT Person of the Year was Anita Long. Bartender of the Year went to Johnathan at the Link while Bar Staff of the Year was Missy from Illusions. D.J. Sherry was winner of D.J. of the Year. The Link was named Gay Establishment of the Year.
