GLCC adds 9 members to board of directors

The Gay and Lesbian Community Center has added nine members to its board of directors. Joining current board members Jim Fischerkeller, Sharon Davis, Janet Flecher and Deni Scott are:

! Jaylynn Brozell, who attended Chatham and Antioch colleges. Brozell will focus on youth programs and represent the board on a variety of projects and events.

! Chris Capato, who brings valuable fund-raising experience to the board and will head the GLCC fund-raising program;

! Karen Evanczuk, a nurse practitioner who has served as president of Dignity-Pittsburgh and has worked as a counselor at Persad Center Inc.;

! Mary Anne Hrach, who currently serves as director of education and programming at the First Unitarian Church. Hrach is a member of the Human Rights Campaign and the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force and will be involved in GLCC fund-raising and youth projects;

! Liz Schoohley, a local attorney, will expand the GLCC library into a community resource;

! Keith Johnston, personnel manager and education coordinator for the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra and music director and board member of the Allegheny Brass Band. Johnston will be involved in producing special events for the GLCC;

! Barry Atkins, who has been a member of the Three Rivers Pride Committee and served as editor of the Pride Guide. Atkins was elected treasurer of the GLCC board;

! Kathleen Helms, a human resource/labor relations and compliance consultant. Helms will serve as GLCC cochair with Fischerkeller.

The board is planning a retreat in January to develop a strategic plan for expansion of the GLCC.

Pulling the balls at OUTrageous Bingo with Rick Allison. Rick has been calling the monthly OUTrageous Bingo for 27 years, which raises money for the Shepherd Wellness Community and the Pittsburgh Equality Center.
