Cece’s Interlude Film Screening
Signal Otter Films presents Tee Park’s Cece’s Interlude!
Set in Los Angeles, Cece’s Interlude, directed by Tee Park, follows a troubled young mother and an overstepping documentarian. Filmmaker Sophie-Anne documents the daily life of Cece, a transgender girl and content creator who’s pregnant. Facing much scrutiny, Cece is a typical 20-something who likes to party and has little plans for the future, let alone having a baby.
Straddling between modes of documentary and satire alongside themes around how media can employ meaning through exploitative practices of storytelling, in addition to blending a narrative toward conversations of bodily autonomy and respectability – ultimately, according to the director, It’s a story about bias, motherhood, and the predatory gaze. It serves as a satire of the media’s long-standing predatory practice of unfair portrayals of queer subjects.
