The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) welcomes all Veterans, families, caregivers, and survivor beneficiaries, including diverse gender identities and sexual orientations. We recognize that LGBTQ+ Veterans face increased health risks and unique challenges in health care. In addition to other health care services, VA Pittsburgh offers care including gender-affirming hormone therapy, LGBTQ+ support groups, gender-affirming prosthetics, speech therapy, support letters, mental health services, and pre and post-operative services. VA Pittsburgh has a robust Interdisciplinary Transgender Treatment Team who provide gender-affirming care to Veterans and consultative services.

Every VA facility has at least one LGBTQ+ Veteran Care Coordinator who can help Veterans get started with services, answer questions and assist in navigating the system, and handle complaints or concerns they have about their care.
