A new LGBTQ+ owned small business has opened in Millvale. Maude’s Paperwing Gallery is a metaphysical store and so much more in support of queerness and all things witchy. Owners Athena and Indigo strive to provide a safe space of healthy connection with a focus on healing past trauma and overcoming injustice as a community.

“Opening a store during a global pandemic was a wild and wacky idea, but so far we have been overwhelmed by the positive support and enthusiasm shown by visitors and shoppers. We’re so excited to see this store grow into the community space we’ve been dreaming up for so long,” Athena said.

The grand opening of Maude’s was a weeklong affair from February 6th through the 13th featuring free gifts and prizes for the first 25 guests. Athena and Indigo plan to host virtual book clubs, markets and movie nights, as well as seasonal card exchanges.

Maude’s is actively seeking to maintain a community resource and safe space where all may feel comfortable to openly communicate and support what guests seek to grow into. Beyond the crystals, books, cauldrons, and herbs that can help bolster your spirit through the trying times in which we live, Maude’s is also working to feature talented, local LGBTQIA+ and witchy artists. These artists’ works are available in-store and on Maude’s online store.

The warmth and welcoming nature of Athena and Indigo is infectious. You’ll want to meet the wonderful witches in Millvale at their cozy store located at 210 Grant Avenue. Following COVID-19 precautions, the store is limiting guests to six at a time with the usual masking and social distancing requirements to keep everyone safe.

Stop by and give the witches at Maude’s a warm QBurgh welcome.
