On Saturday, community members, family, and friends gathered to remember the life of Pauly Likens, a 14-year-old trans girl from Sharon, Pennsylvania, who was brutally murdered last month. Her remains were found scattered around a park lake an hour north of Pittsburgh.
Pauly is the 20th and youngest transgender or gender-expansive person killed in Pennsylvania in the past decade, as reported by the Pennsylvania Youth Congress.
Investigators allege that the tragic events unfolded on June 23, when DaShawn Watkins encountered Pauly near Budd Street Public Park and Canoe Launch in Sharon, PA. Authorities apprehended Watkins on July 2.
