Trump Rolls Back LGBTQ Patient Protections

The Trump administration on Friday, the fourth anniversary of the Pulse Night Club massacre, formally rolled back an Obama-era policy that protected LGBTQ patients from discrimination, unnerving health experts who worry vulnerable populations will face further risks during the Covid-19 pandemic, reported CNN.

The Delta Foundation of Pittsburgh issued the following statement:

Everyone should be able to see a doctor or go to the hospital without worrying about being mistreated or denied service. This ruling encourages discrimination by stripping protections from LGBTQ people – specifically transgender people — people with disabilities and others during a pandemic that threatens the most vulnerable. To make this announcement on the 4th anniversary of the Pulse Night Club massacre and in the middle of Pride month is shameful.
