Get ready to click your heels and ease on down the road, because Renaissance City Choir (RCC), Western Pennsylvania’s only LGBTQIA+ choral ensemble, is bringing the queer magic of Oz to East Liberty this spring. Their much-anticipated 2025 Cabaret Concert, “Follow Our Yellow Brick Road,” will take the stage on April 4 and 5 at 8:00 p.m. at East Liberty Presbyterian Church.
Blending Broadway flair, nostalgic classics, and powerful queer affirmation, this year’s cabaret pays tribute to the fantastical world of Oz with selections from The Wizard of Oz, The Wiz, and Wicked. Expect goosebumps when the choir belts out “Ding Dong, the Witch is Dead,” gets groovy with “Ease on Down the Road,” and soars sky-high with “Defying Gravity.”
But RCC isn’t just about choral harmony — it’s about community. Their spring cabarets are intimate, expressive showcases of LGBTQIA+ talent, and this year’s solo and duet performances promise to be nothing short of enchanting. From the heart-tugging “For Good” to the iconic “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” this concert invites audiences of all identities to dream big, sing loud, and embrace the queer magic within.
For those who can’t attend in person, RCC offers livestream and on-demand access to the Saturday, April 5 performance via their website. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door each night.
East Liberty Presbyterian Church is ADA accessible, and both performances will include ASL interpretation — reflecting RCC’s commitment to accessibility, inclusion, and community connection.
Founded on the belief that music can build bridges, RCC has spent decades affirming LGBTQIA+ identity through powerful performances that center justice, equality, and joy. As a proud member of GALA Choruses, RCC continues to enrich Pittsburgh’s cultural landscape with a repertoire that spans traditional, contemporary, and global sounds — always with a queer-positive, justice-driven heart.
The concert is made possible in part by support from the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council and the Allegheny Regional Asset District.
So whether you’re a friend of Dorothy, a Wicked fan, or just someone who believes in the power of song to unite and uplift — this is your invitation. Let RCC take you over the rainbow.
