Transgender Day of Remembrance

Transgender Day of Remembrance, also known as the International Transgender Day of Remembrance, is observed annually on November 20 as a day to memorialize those who have been murdered as a result of transphobia. It is a day to draw attention to the continued violence endured by transgender people.

There is an epidemic of violence and the murder of trans women, especially trans women of color.

This evening, TransYOUniting, Trans Pride Pittsburgh, and Proud Haven are hosting a Transgender Day of Remembrance service at the Hugh Lane Wellness Foundation located at 925 Brighton Road on the North Side. The program will feature speakers, light hot refreshments, and food to honor those we lost and uplift the community. The service begins at 6:00 PM and you can find more details on Facebook.
