The ice is cold, but the Pride is heating up at PPG Paints Arena tonight.
The Pittsburgh Penguins are celebrating their annual Pride Game on Thursday, October 22, as they face off against the Florida Panthers at 7 p.m. The evening will bring LGBTQ+ visibility to one of Pittsburgh’s biggest sporting stages, with local organizations joining the celebration.
For queer hockey fans, the night is about more than goals, saves, and slap shots. It’s an opportunity to celebrate LGBTQ+ people who love the game, play the game, and deserve to feel welcome in every corner of hockey culture.
One of the evening’s highlights is the Penguins’ recognition of Pittsburgh LGBTQ+ Hockey, bringing attention to the local queer hockey community.
Hockey has traditionally been associated with a hypermasculine sports culture, but LGBTQ+ players and fans are challenging narrow ideas about who belongs on the ice and in the stands.
Events like Pride Night offer a chance to make that belonging visible, particularly for younger LGBTQ+ fans who may be discovering the sport for the first time.
Fans attending tonight’s game can also celebrate in style.
The Penguins are offering a special Pride ticket package that includes an exclusive Penguins-branded Pride wearable, available while supplies last.
The collectible is part of the team’s Drawn to the Game initiative, which celebrates Pittsburgh’s diverse communities through artist-designed merchandise and special game experiences.

Important: The Pride wearable is included with the designated special ticket package, not automatically with every regular game ticket.
This year’s Pride Game offers fans a direct way to support Pittsburgh LGBTQ+ Hockey.
Through a special group ticket offer, $10 from every ticket purchased through the designated link will be donated to Pittsburgh LGBTQ+ Hockey. And following the game, group members are invited to participate in a special postgame Shot on Goal experience, giving participants an opportunity to step onto the ice at PPG Paints Arena.
