Residents of Presbyterian SeniorCare Network’s Oakmont campus unveiled a new collaborative art installation, “Bridges and Belonging,” at Mosaic Apartments in Oakland on Monday afternoon.
The large mosaic was created by approximately 60 older adults from The Willows, Westminster Place, and Woodside Place, who painted more than 200 wooden circles, hexagons, and squares over the course of five weeks. The project began during Pride Month on June 3 and concluded in early July.
Created as a gift for the residents of Mosaic Apartments, the artwork celebrates community, diversity, and support for LGBTQ+ people. Artistic direction was provided by Dana Capsambelis of Dandelion Days, and the project was funded through a grant from Awesome Pittsburgh.
Mosaic Apartments, located at 3221 Forbes Avenue in Oakland, opened in November 2025 as western Pennsylvania’s first LGBTQ+-friendly affordable housing community and the second of its kind in Pennsylvania.
The dedication ceremony brought together Presbyterian SeniorCare Network leaders and Mosaic Apartments residents to celebrate the installation, highlighting connections across generations and affirming the importance of welcoming, inclusive spaces for LGBTQ+ older adults.
