We in Allegheny County continue to commit ourselves to the goal of building bridges to give LGBTQIA+ people a safe space where they are recognized, welcomed, accepted, and celebrated. This month, we not only acknowledge our strides in achieving this aim but also reaffirm our efforts to continue its advancement.
Pride is not just a word; it is a declaration of your determination to exist freely as you so choose. It is a call to action for diversity, equity, inclusion and love for all. It is the glue that keeps communities together, and its power is immense. For it is not something that can simply be broken by oppressive acts, bigotry, or hateful rhetoric.
Every time you go into the street to protest, every time you wave your flag high, and every time you celebrate pride, you are proving that existence is resistance.
So, continue to show your pride. Not just this month, but every day of the year. Express yourself and encourage others to do the same. Because being distinct is what makes Allegheny truly great. We wish you all a happy, exciting, and joy-filled Pride!
