Pittsburgh Pride is officially calling on the community to help choose a local legend.
Nominations are now open for the 2026 Pittsburgh Pride Parade Grand Marshal, an honor reserved for someone deeply embedded in and committed to the region’s LGBTQ+ community. This isn’t about celebrity status; it’s about impact, care, and the everyday work of building queer life in Pittsburgh.
The selected Grand Marshal will lead the 2026 Pittsburgh Pride Parade on Sunday, June 7, guiding the celebration from Downtown along Liberty Avenue, across the iconic Roberto Clemente Bridge, and into the Pittsburgh Pride Festival at Allegheny Commons Park West.
This route is symbolic. Marching across the bridge, the Grand Marshal quite literally carries the community forward, connecting the city’s past and present queer spaces with a future still being shaped.
Organizers are encouraging nominations for individuals who have made a meaningful difference, whether through activism, organizing, art, mutual aid, nightlife, healthcare, education, or simply showing up again and again for their people.
In a time when queer and trans communities continue to face both joy and struggle, honoring someone from within Pittsburgh’s LGBTQ+ ecosystem feels especially powerful. The Grand Marshal embodies the spirit of resilience, creativity, and radical care that defines this city’s queer community.
