A federal judge blocked the Trump administration’s proposed new guidelines that would have rolled back Obama era healthcare protections for transgender people.
The new guidelines were set to take effect on Tuesday.
The now blocked guidelines would have allowed hospitals and healthcare providers to deny service to individuals based on real or perceived transgender identity. The proposal unnerved health experts who worried vulnerable populations would face further risks during the Covid-19 pandemic.
