Terry Price, Long-Time Community Figure, Has Passed Away

He kept us safe so we could celebrate who we are.

Terry Price.

Long-time community figure Terry Price passed away on Friday while undergoing triple bypass surgery in Cleveland.

Terry Price was often the first person in the community many young LGBTQ folks would meet as they made their first trek to a gay bar in Pittsburgh. Terry served as the doorman and bouncer at Pegasus on Liberty Avenue in the 90s and throughout the early 2000s. He would later take up the same role at Cruz Bar in the Strip District. Terry was also a long-time volunteer and helper during Pittsburgh Pride events.

An outpouring of fond memories flooded Terry’s social media as news spread over the weekend. Many users shared stories of Terry’s smile and readiness with a hug for those who needed it but also his stern attitude for the safety of all clubgoers.

Thank you Terry for keeping us safe to celebrate who we are as a community.

Rest in peace.
