We know the healthcare system can be complicated, but at Allies for Health + Wellbeing, it doesn’t have to be. You can come to Allies for everything from testing to primary care to gynecological care.

Here are 10 reasons why you should make an appointment at Allies:

1. You’re looking for great, inclusive healthcare.

Whether you’re coming to us for HIV specialty care or to get an STI test, you can count on Allies to provide the highest quality care in a friendly and inclusive environment. Our staff has training in LGBTQIA+ competent care and trauma informed care. No matter your reason for getting care at Allies, we’re going to make sure you have a comfortable, safe and informative experience with us.

2. You’ve been thinking about getting on PrEP.

Did you know that HIV can be 99% preventable with PrEP? If you’re HIV negative, our team at Allies is happy to work with you to find the best PrEP option for your lifestyle, whether it’s a once-daily pill, an injection every two months or injections every six months. Start your PrEP journey with Allies today!

3. You hate making a separate trip to the pharmacy.

When you visit Allies for your healthcare needs, you can sign up with Allies Pharmacy and pick up your prescriptions right after you’ve seen your provider. No need to make a separate trip to the pharmacy! You can also get your medications delivered at no extra cost. Plus, our expert pharmacy staff can answer any questions you might have about your medications. Interested? Give us a call at 412-643-3405 to sign up with Allies Pharmacy.

4. It’s been a minute since you had STI testing.

If you’re sexually active, you can contract an STI, and many STIs do not have noticeable symptoms. That’s why it’s important to make regular STI testing part of your healthcare routine. At Allies, you can make an appointment for testing in our East Liberty office, or you can visit one of our free testing locations and get tested for HIV, hepatitis C, gonorrhea, chlamydia and syphilis.

STIs can cause serious health problems if not treated – and treatments are available – so if you haven’t been tested recently, give us a call.

5. You’re having weird symptoms Down There.

Whether it’s burning when you pee or a weird discharge, if you’ve got symptoms you’re concerned about, give Allies a call. Many sexually transmitted infections do not have symptoms, but if you are experiencing anything out of the ordinary, it’s a good idea to get yourself checked out.

6. You need an annual exam.

Getting an annual exam each year is a good way to keep tabs on your health. You can ask your provider any questions you may have about your health, get any vaccines you may need, and you and your provider can talk about how you can stay healthy in the long term. You can get your annual exams at Allies in addition to STI testing, PrEP and any other care you receive at Allies.

7. You’re at risk for hepatitis C.

Hepatitis C is a a serious and contagious liver disease that can cause liver damage, liver cancer or liver failure. It often has no noticeable symptoms. Everyone should get tested for hepatitis C at least once in their lives, but if you have HIV, have ever used injection drugs or received a blood transfusion before 1992, you may be at greater risk.

Hep C is curable, but you need to get tested. You can get both testing and treatment at Allies! Visit one of our free testing locations or make an appointment to get tested at Allies’ East Liberty office.

8. You’re ready to start gender-affirming care.

Allies for Health + Wellbeing is proud to offer gender-affirming care for adults older than 19, including hormone replacement therapy and referrals for gender-affirming surgery. Our team provides personalized treatment plans tailored to each individual’s unique needs, ensuring safe and effective hormone therapy.

9. You want gynecological care without judgment or assumptions.

It may be the year 2026, but there are still some outdated ideas floating around, especially when it comes to healthcare for members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

At Allies, you can get pelvic exams, Pap tests and basic reproductive healthcare without judgment, from LGBTQIA+ competent providers. Our providers can talk with you about family planning and any preventative screenings you may need. Remember, trans folks get chest exams, too!

10. You could use a little help managing your HIV diagnosis.

Whether you’re newly diagnosed with HIV or if you’ve had it for a while, managing your health with HIV can be challenging. At Allies, HIV care is the core of our mission. We have more than 40 years of helping people with HIV and AIDS, and our providers are highly experienced in the latest treatments for HIV. When you get care at Allies, our providers will work with you to make sure your treatment plan works for you.

If you need support beyond medical care, our case managers can help connect you with the resources you need to live your best life with HIV.
