Pittsburgh is for Everyone

A Message from Mayor Gainey

Mayor Ed Gainey

On behalf of the residents of our great city, it is my pleasure to welcome you to Pittsburgh in celebration of LGBTQIA+ Pride Month!

Pittsburgh is a place where every member of the LGBTQIA+ community is valued for who they are, and we honor and celebrate everyone in our great city. We are working hard to make Pittsburgh a city where every member of the LGBTQIA+ community can feel safe and welcome and has opportunities to thrive.

Pride celebrations that will occur over the next month embody the spirit of a city that is welcoming, diverse, and accepting of all people. Pittsburgh is home to LGBTQIA+ history makers, artists, and entrepreneurs.

We’re also home to 15,000 acres of public parks and green spaces and world-class architecture. And with more than 32 museums, 30 concert venues, and 19 public libraries, our arts community rivals any other major American city. Throughout Pride Month, I encourage everyone to join in the festivities and enjoy all that Pittsburgh has to offer – from our beautiful rivers to our diverse neighborhoods.

I would like to commend QBurgh for organizing the annual Pride Guide magazine that lifts up and celebrates all that the community has to offer as well as recognitions of our local LGBTQIA+ history and spotlights on many of the incredible accomplishments of Pittsburgh’s LGBTQIA+ Community.

Happy Pride Pittsburgh,
Ed Gainey
Mayor
City of Pittsburgh
