In the “Now” installment of “From Then to Now to When,” we sit down with Kaitlin and Stephanie Muczyk, wives and business owners behind K8 Do It, a Pittsburgh handygal service redefining what it means to care for your community.
Since launching in 2022, K8 Do It has centered its work around creating safe spaces for people often underserved by traditional home service companies, queer folks, neurodivergent people, elders, and anyone who needs a little extra gentleness.
“There are other companies that do decluttering or repairs,” Kaitlin says, “but our clients choose us because they feel safe.”
One particularly touching story involves helping an elderly gay couple downsize, not just organizing a home, but being trusted with decades of queer memory. From minor repairs to emotional labor, K8 Do It is showing us that radical care can be practical, too.
