As Allies gears up for an exciting milestone in 2025—their 40th anniversary!—they’re not just celebrating the past but also looking forward to a vibrant future. A key part of that future? Recognizing and empowering young changemakers who are lighting up our community with creativity, resilience, and a commitment to progress. And to do that, they need our help!
Since 2022, Allies’ “Bright Young People” award has highlighted individuals making significant contributions through their art, careers, and activism. These young leaders form a constellation of excellence, each leaving their unique mark on Pittsburgh’s LGBTQ+ community and beyond. In the past three years, Allies has proudly celebrated 33 extraordinary individuals as part of this prestigious group. Now, they’re thrilled to expand the roster for 2025 and invite you to nominate someone exceptional.
What Makes Bright Young People?
The Bright Young People recognition is all about those who drive positive change and embody a hopeful, inclusive future. These are young leaders who pour their passion into their work and uplift others—whether through their advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights, their creative contributions to queer art and culture, or their professional dedication to making a difference.
If you know someone who exemplifies these qualities and stands as a beacon in our community, don’t hesitate to nominate them! Your nomination helps uplift voices that deserve recognition and gives our community a chance to celebrate its future leaders.
Upcoming Celebrations and How to Nominate
The chosen Bright Young People for 2025 will be honored at a mixer in early March and will also be part of the main event at Allies for Health + Wellbeing’s 40th Anniversary Celebration on Friday, April 11. It’s an incredible opportunity for these young leaders to gain visibility and connect with fellow advocates, artists, and change agents.

This is your chance to recognize the folks who are shaping our community and contributing to a brighter, more inclusive future for all of us.
