LGBTQ Senior Housing Community to be Built in Oakland

The Presbyterian SeniorCare Network announced that it would be building an LGBTQ friendly senior housing community in Oakland and is seeking $7.5 million in state grants for the project.

The housing community is planned to be an 80 unit mixed income, mixed use facility in Oakland. The exact location was not announced pending the finalization of a deal.

The need for LGBTQ senior housing is ever growing as a generation of out and proud individuals move in to senior facilities and worry that they will have to go back into the closet or be housed separately from their spouses or partners.
