No one is hornier for fascism than JD Vance.
Kink shaming is wrong, but the vast majority of the people Vance is subjecting to his kink have absolutely not consented. So I can shame him all I want.
I’ve never read Vance’s book, “I’m Better Than Hillbillies” or whatever it’s called. But I’ve read articles about it! And that’s good enough to declare yourself a medical doctor under the Trump Administration.
I remember the first time I heard the claim that Vance wrote about having sex with a couch in that book. And you know what I did? I laughed. Then I did some cursory research and found out very quickly that it was not true. Whether he’s ever fucked a couch or not, we may never know. But it’s not in his book.
Anyway, in addition to being hot for authority, Vance also has a gratitude fetish. Remember when he snapped at Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, “Have you said thank you once?” regarding U.S. assistance in Russia’s war against Ukraine? An absolutely wild thing to say to a visiting president, especially in the tone of a bratty child. He basically told Zelenskyy to kiss his ass. Or, more accurately, thank his ass.
And a month ago Vance said Democrats should be thanking Trump for sending troops into D.C. and “saving lives.” In the video he’s standing next to Trump and trying so hard to impress him. It’s sad.
His latest thank you demand was directed at former MSNBC host Joy Reid, a Black woman.
“Joy Reid has had such a good life in this country. It’s been overwhelmingly kind and gracious to her,” Vance wrote on X. “She is far wealthier than most. Yet she oozes with contempt. My honest, non-trolling advice to Joy Reid is that you’d be a much happier person if you showed a little gratitude.”
This was in response to a short clip of an interview with Reid in which she says that when her parents came to the U.S. they quickly realized how racist this country is.
As you know, it is now illegal to call the U.S. racist and so apparently at least one right-wing X user posted the clip.
And, no, it isn’t illegal to call the U.S. racist. At least not that I know of. But who knows where things will be by the time you’re reading this.
Anyway, Reid responded to Vance like a queen all while wearing a baseball cap reading, “Petty.”
“JD Vance, since you’re paying attention to me: Fuck you!” she said in an interview with Tommy Christopher. “There’s nothing you could ever say that I would take as advice, friendly or otherwise. I don’t need advice from you. You need to learn how to be a decent human being.”
And Reid is [Wait a moment. Results being tabulated.] 100% CORRECT.
And she wasn’t done.
“What happens is if you are Black, you immediately come here and it isn’t long before you are treated the same way that America treats all of its Black citizens: as second class citizens, as people who need to, quote unquote, be grateful for white people apparently giving them opportunity,” she continued. And then, addressing Vance directly, “You, because you are a racist asshole, believe that Black people are given opportunity by white people.”
Oh, yeah, Vance definitely believes that. We don’t even need the tabulator. In fact, it is probably one of his nicer beliefs about Black people. And immigrants. And LGBTQ+ people. And trans people specifically. And Muslims. And brown people. And indigenous people. And, in some way shape or form, you. Yes, you. Personally.
Maybe you’re a cis white guy. Maybe you’re even straight and Christian to boot!
That still won’t be enough to spare you under fascism (which is happening right now. We’re in it. Then again, if you’re a cis straight white Christian man you might not realize it. In fact, you’re probably benefitting from it. But most people are not. It’s bad, trust me). They’ll find you eventually.
Maybe it’ll be a book you checked out of the library a few years ago. Maybe it’ll be that your sister was identified as Antifa. Maybe it’ll be the JD Vance meme you shared on Facebook even though you changed your privacy settings so only friends could see your posts. Is it because one of your friends ratted you out? Or is it because Facebook’s privacy settings are bullshit? Is it both?
Things are scary. Keep your loved ones close. And remember that there are a lot of people who are working very hard to push against fascist bullshit (unfortunately none of them are members of Congress). Tell them thank you. Unless it’s Vance. Then tell him fuck you.
