Vogue 101 Workshop

October 13 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Instructed by Dezmanian 007
What is Vogue? — Vogue, or voguing, is a highly stylized, modern house dance originating in the late 1980s that evolved out of the Harlem ballroom scene of the 1960s created by Black & Brown LGBTQIA+ People of Color.
Voguing is a special and unique art form that lives in our illusive underground Ballroom community, but today has become a style of movement for everyone, regardless of your experience – it’s all about love, sharing, and self-expression. Dezmanin 007 will facilitate a unique 1 hour workshop that will introduce you to the elements of vogue, including spins, dips, floorwork, runway, and more.
“Vogue femme is fluidity at its most extreme with exaggerated feminine movements influenced by ballet and modern dance. Styles of vogue femme performance range from dramatics style (which emphasizes stunts, tricks, and speed) to soft style (which emphasizes a graceful, beautiful, easy flow). There are six elements of vogue femme: hand performance, catwalk, duckwalk, floor performance, dips, and spins (unofficial). When competing in a vogue femme battle, contestants should showcase all six elements in an entertaining fashion.” – Voguing Performance
