Friends of Dorothy Book Club: The City We Became by N.K. Jemisin
A book club for LGTBQ+ stories
Finding community and togetherness through books!
Our next discussion will be on February 26th and we will be reading The City We Became by N.K. Jemisin.
Are you a friend of Dorothy? This question became popular in the military for gay men trying to identify each other discretely when being gay was grounds for dishonorable discharge. Dorothy (Gale), portrayed by Judy Garland, an icon in the queer community, is a name covert enough to pass, but queer enough for the in crowd.
Friends of Dorothy is a monthly conversation focused on LGBTQ+ books at Woolly Bear Books, hosted by Izzy, a queer, nonbinary Carnegie local. All those willing to respect other members, the authors/their stories, and the space graciously provided by Woolly Bear Books are welcome to join.
Meeting at Woolly Bear Books in Carnegie, PA at 8pm on the 4th Thursday of each month, we will discuss diverse stories from inclusive queer and trans* authors.
(Lite refreshments will be provided)
