In 2025, after nearly a decade, Pittsburgh proudly welcomed the return of an IGBO-affiliated bowling event with the inaugural Burgh Area Rainbow Bowling Invitational (BARBI). This event marked the city’s first IGBO tournament since the Mid-Year Conference in 2015—and we’re just getting started.
Hosted by a newly formed and passionate BARBI Host Committee, this annual tournament celebrates and unites the LGBTQIA+ bowling community in the heart of Western Pennsylvania. With deep LGBT bowling roots—home to the Steel City Bowling League and Stonewall Sports Pittsburgh Bowling—Pittsburgh is the perfect place for BARBI to grow.
BARBI 2026 will take place March 27–29, 2026, and will expand into a full 9-game tournament across Saturday and Sunday, complete with:
An optional Friday night 9-Pin No-Tap Tournament
A host hotel and hospitality suite
And a Sunday evening awards banquet to close out the weekend in style
Whether you’re a competitive bowler, a social roller, or somewhere in between, BARBI is here to create a fun, inclusive, and community-driven experience for all.
Registration opens in January 2026!
Want to be part of the fun behind the scenes? We’re always looking for volunteers to help make BARBI even better. Email staff@barbipittsburgh.com to learn more.
Let’s bowl, celebrate, and build community together—year after year!
