Come to Assemble’s Afrofuturism Queer Craft Night, led by yours truly, Nsai Temko! It’s Janelle Monáe inspired!
In the Metropolis Suite, we hear our evil antagonist wanting Cindi Mayweather’s cybersoul in a jar to silence the revolution. Throughout her discography, there are many references to the soul and what it means to be human, to love, and to grow.
At this craft night, I will be giving a presentation summarizing Janelle’s discography. We will explore the political and personal themes throughout as well as completing a craft where we make our own cyber souls. Still, we are the ones to hold them.
It’s 18+ Queer Craft Night once again! Every month, we get to make together in community!
Queer Craft Night is a safe space for introverts and extroverts alike! It’s a time to co-create, collaborate, and celebrate! Bring in what you are working on or try something new!
In addition to our sewing machines, 3D printer, Cricut, and laser cutter, you’ll have access to all our craft supplies, as well as the expertise of our fabulous Assemble staff!
Non-alcoholic drinks and snacks included.
This event is intended to be a safe space for queer community members and is open to people of all gender identities and sexual orientations + cis-straight allies.
