Epidemic of Violence Towards Trans Community Spotlighted by Google

There is an epidemic in America. No, we aren’t talking about Covid-19 at least not right now. We’re talking about the violence and the murders of trans women, trans women of color in particular.

In the first eight months of 2020, at least 26 trans people have been killed, the majority of them trans women of color.

Google released a video yesterday highlighting what the American Medical Association in 2019 designated as an epidemic and spotlighting national organizations supporting the transgender community.

Locally, TransYouniting and True T PGH have been leading the way with their programming to support the Trans Community of Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania. Proud Haven recently partnered with TransYouniting and Trans Pride Pittsburgh to establish YOUth Haven as a safe space for the community.
