This unique and timely program, Affirming All of Us: Gender, Religious Freedom, and the Role of the Jewish Community, will explore what gender means, what discrimination looks like, how it intersects with religious freedom, civil rights, and public policy—AND why these issues should matter deeply to the Jewish community. You’ll hear from local health experts, advocates, and community members on the frontlines of LGBTQIA+ justice in the the greater Pittsburgh area.
Our program moderator, Maggie Feinstein, Executive Director of the 10.27 Healing Partnership, will work with our panelists — Mia E. Briceño, Ph.D., Director of Programs, Carl G. Grefenstette Center for Ethics in Science, Technology, and Law at Duquesne University; Vanessa Schmithorst, Ph.D., Scientist and Steering Committee Member, Jewish Women and Religious Freedom in Pittsburgh Project; and Vincent Folkes, Founder of For the Boys PGH — to help unpack the meaning of gender, the importance of allyship, highlight the Jewish values that call us to this work, and offer concrete tools for creating inclusive, welcoming spaces—both within our Jewish communities and beyond.
Free and open to people of all faiths and none.
