President RuPaul moves into the movie theater

Here comes the first feature film from the “RuPaul’s Drag Race” extended universe, and though it has no title just yet, RuPaul’s character has a perfectly appropriate “Drag Race” name: President Gagwell. Because of course. From gay director Adam Shankman (“Hairspray”) and World of Wonder, the comedy action-thriller is set on a high-speed train called The Glamazonian Express, where two stewardesses confront a “Stormganza” that could derail and crash the entire thing. In order to avert catastrophe, President Gagwell — whom we presume is a passenger — has to join in for a super queen team up. It’s in production now, due to open theatrically in 2026, so start planning your most sickening outfit.

Chloe Grace Moretz speaks ‘Love Language’

Congratulations are in order for Chloe Grace Moretz, who very recently married her girlfriend, model Kate Harrison. And the star of the queer indie “The Miseducation of Cameron Post” has a new film in the works, “Love Language,” from filmmaker Joey Power (“After Everything”). The story of a woman named Lou whose side hustle is writing wedding vows, her life turns complicated when she finds herself writing vows for a woman who, surprise, is engaged to her ex. Moretz’s co-stars here include gay actor Lukas Gage as well as Anthony Ramos, Manny Jacinto, Billie Lourd and Chloe Fineman. No release date set for this one, but this year’s films “Splitsville” and “Materialists” have whet our appetite for movies about complicated relationships all over again. Bring on the messy feelings.

Alexander Lincoln heats up ‘A Night Like This’

Queer British up-and-comer Alexander Lincoln turned a lot of heads in the 2022 gay indie rugby-themed romance, “In From The Side,” and has shown up on series like “Emmerdale” and in the U.S. in the Hallmark gay romance “The Groomsmen: Second Chances.” His star is rising and will get another boost from the indie drama “A Night Like This.” Not simply a nod to a Kylie Minogue song, it’s also a queer spin on Richard Linklater’s acclaimed trilogy that began with “Before Sunrise,” in which two strangers spend all night walking and talking and falling in love. From first-time feature director Liam Calvert, the story will follow two young men on a similar path, and will co-star Lincoln and “Wolfblood” actor Jack Brett Anderson as the young men fated to be lovers. Opening in the U.K. as we speak, it’s U.S. release date is still to be set, but look to your local arthouse in romantic anticipation.

Queer decorations adorn ‘A Very Jonas Christmas Movie’

Nick, Kevin and Joe — The Jonas Brothers — are still making music and are about to star in their very first holiday-themed movie, as themselves: “A Very Jonas Christmas Movie.” From Academy Award-winning filmmaker Jessica Yu (“Quiz Lady”) the plot is, cozily enough, lifted directly from “Planes, Trains, and Automobiles,” as the brothers encounter multiple obstacles as they attempt to get home for Christmas. In addition to cameos from other members of the Jonas family, the cast includes queer actors Laverne Cox and Jesse Tyler Ferguson, as well as Billie Lourd, KJ Apa, Andrea Martin, Randall Park, and, why not, Kenny G as himself. It drops into your home via Disney+ on Nov. 14 and comes with its own catchy tagline: “Let it bro, let it bro, let it bro.” Yes, really.

Romeo San Vicente is already freezing cookie dough for the holidays.
